Cape Town City ground out a 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in their Absa Premiership tie on Wednesday
Phunya Sele Sele were off to a positive start as they put pressure on their hosts with two corner kicks in the first five minutes.
In the 13th minute the game saw its first real chance as Nyondo found himself with room to shoot in front of goal, but he couldn’t break the deadlock.
Shortly thereafter, Nyondo was in the thick of it again. He came agonisingly close to opening the scoring but his header at goal hit the post instead.
However, the first goal arrived at the other end of the pitch. Lehlohonolo Majoro pounced after some poor defending and put the ball in the back of the net to give City the lead.
The game saw less goal-mouth action as the first half drew to a close, and was off to a slow start as well after the interval.
Majoro came close to doubling the lead for City, and at the other and Ndengane also threatened to equalise, but his shot went inches wide and Cape Town held on for the win.
