Players such as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian have all been linked with moves away from Manchester United, and Jose Mourinho’s club has now confirmed its next departure.
The Portuguese tactician has spent €185 million (R2.84 billion) in this window already, and still needs to cut his squad to a manageable size.
It had previously been suggested that as many as nine players were on Mourinho’s axe list, with Patrick McNair and Donald Love becoming the first two names to leave Old Trafford.
Left back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is the next player to leave United, albeit only on a season-long loan to Wolverhamton Wanderers.
The 19-year-old impressed during 14 appearances for Louis van Gaal last season, and recently signed a contract extension with the club until 2020.
Mourinho, however, made it clear that the left back would not be in his immediate plans for this season, and should therefore look for regular game time elsewhere.
United’s U21 Player of the Season will now hope to impress in the Championship at Wolves in order to convince the Portuguese of his first team credentials for United.
