Neymar was in immaculate form on Saturday night as he netted four goals to steer Barcelona to a 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano.
The visitors were first to score in the 15th minute when a low cross from Bebe found Javi Guerra who got across the defender brilliantly before directing the ball home from close range.
However, the lead didn’t last long. The Neymar show got underway in the 22nd minute when he slotted a penalty after Llorente fouled the Brazilian in the box to give the hosts a spot-kick.
Less than 10 minutes later the Catalans were in front. Neymar got into the Rayo area again and this time Nacho fouled him, handing the Barca man his second penalty which he netted with aplomb.
Neymar added a third to his tally in the 69th minute to give the home team a 3-1 lead. Luis Suarez’s initial shot was parried but only as far as Neymar who was in the right place to take advantage and complete his hat-trick.
A mere minute later Neymar’s name was in lights again. Suarez unselfishly squared for his teammate to finish after doing all the work down the right flank.
In the 77th minute Barca were 5-1 up as Suarez turned scorer. Neymar was the provider on this occasion, sending a cross in from the left to pick out the Uruguayan striker who made no mistake with the finish.
Ray at least finished the game with a positive as they netted their second in the last four minutes. Visiting midfielder Jozabed Sánchez steered the ball home with Bravo unsighted.
