Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic played out a goalless draw in their Absa Premiership clash on Saturday.
The hosts started brightly as Mabhudi Khenyeza almost caught goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb out of position with a shot from 20 yards that went just wide of the target.
There were chances for both sides around the 15-minute mark. Khenyeza was causing Celtic problems again but his shot went straight at Tignyemb before Helder Pelembe’s attempt was blocked on the line by Trevor Mathiane.
Khenyeza had another chance on 25 minutes when Deon Hotto played a ball over the top to set it up for him, but his shot was saved again.
Hotto came close on the stroke of half-time as he forced another super stop from Tignyemb who looked unbeatable between the sticks.
Maximilian Mbaeva was required to make his first real save of the game shortly after the interval as Pelembe put a low shot on target.
Phunya Sele Sele were on the attack again in the 53rd minute and sliced through the Arrows defence, but Mbaeva kept Pelembe out again.
Kuda Mahachi threatened to break the deadlock in the last 20 minutes as he directed a shot towards the bottom corner of the Celtic goal, but Tignyemb got a across fast enough to save.
Here’s how they lined up:
Arrows: Mbaeva, Mngwengwe, Mathiane(c), Sikhakhane, Mokhethi, N.Cele, Shitolo, Mahachi, Fikizolo, Khenyeza, Hotto
