Chelsea’s problems continued after a 3-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park, while Manchester City and Arsenal both picked up three points.
Jose Mourinho’s side were 2-0 behind against the Toffees after just 22 minutes after Steven Naismith scored a quick-fire brace.
Nemanja Matic pulled a goal back for the Blues before half-time but Naismith completed a hat-trick seven minutes from the end to seal victory as Everton moved up to fourth place.
Chelsea’s awful start continues as they slumped to 16th on the Premier League table after five games. They have just four points on the board.
City and Arsenal, meanwhile, strengthened their positions in first and second on the table as Manual Pellegrini’s side won 1-0 at Crystal Palace and Arsene Wenger’s men won 2-0 at home against Stoke City.
Nigerian teenage sensation Kelechi Iheanacho was City’s hero in the 90th minute as he popped up to score a valuable winner, while Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud wrapped up the points for the Gunners.
It was a good day for Nigerian players in the Premier League as Odion Ighalo’s 59th-minute strike also gave 10-man Watford all three points against Swansea City.
