outh Africa will meet Angola in the final round of CHAN 2016 qualifying after beating Mauritius 2-0 at a near-empty Anjalay Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Mandla Masango and Wandisile Letlabika struck after the break as Bafana Bafana advanced 5-0 on aggregate.
Bafana defeated the islanders 3-0 in Soweto last month, with Lehlohonolo Nonyane the only change to the team this time around following an injury to defender Marc van Heerden.
Shakes Mashaba’s men showed early intent in Belle Vue Maurel, as Masango, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Gift Motupa steered shots narrowly wide of goal.
At the other end, Jean Stephane Pierre scuppered a great chance when he ballooned his attempt on the angle from close range in the 19th minute.
Soon after, Siphelele Ntshangase – who bagged a brace last time out – was unable to direct William Twala’s cutback from the left on target.
Gabuza nearly netted just before the interval but the Orlando Pirates striker side-footed inches wide of the upright after being teed up by Masango.
Bafana saw less of the ball in the second stanza, and survived a scare when the marauding Percy Buckland blasted over on the hour-mark.
Moments later, Twala was denied by the woodwork before Pierre lifted his effort just over Itumeleng Khune’s goal.
The visitors pressed for a goal in the latter stages, with Twala triggering a stunning one-handed save from the giant frame of Pacal Balisson.
Balisson, however, was finally beaten by a low free-kick from Masango in the 69th minute.
Bloemfontein Celtic’s Letlabika then sealed the result with a composed finish in the box in the 84th minute following a smart backheel from substitute Ndumiso Mabena.
Bafana XI: Khune (c), Letlabika, Gumede, Mngonyama, Nonyane, Twala, Motupa, Nyatama, Masango (Monare 86′), Gabuza (Mnyamane 74′), Ntshangase (Mabena 63′)
