Real Madrid saw their Spanish La Liga title hopes severely diminished when they played to a 1-1 draw in a league match against Real Valladolid at the Nuevo Jose Zorilla Stadium on Wednesday night.
The point sees Madrid now trailing league leaders Atletico Madrid by four points with two league games to go.
The draw for Valladolid, on the other hand, sees them out of the relegation zone and into 17th place.
It was a horrible start to the game for Madrid when they saw Cristiano Ronaldo leave the field injured in the sixth minute and replaced by Alvaro Morata.
That did not stop Madrid from pushing forward in attack and creating their first chance on goal in the tenth minute when Sergio Ramos fired wide from the edge of the box following a corner-kick.
Valladolid’s first decent effort on goal came eight minutes later when Antonio Rukavina played Oscar into some space just inside the box, but he shot over the target.
In the 25th minute Ramos came close again when he met a Morata cross, but he headed narrowly wide of the goal.
Ramos, though, did find the back of the net ten minutes later when his thunderbolt of a free-kick from 24-yards out found the top left-hand corner, 1-0.
Ramos was in the thick of the action yet again in the dying seconds of the half when he met a Luka Modric cross, but his header was off target.
The half ended 1-0 in favour of Madrid.
The second half saw the away team start brightly as they looked to add to their one goal from the first stanza.
Modric probably came closest in the 59th minute when he curled a 20-yard shot inches wide of the post.
Valladolid then began to mount a bit of a comeback and came close to levelling matters in the 66th minute when Javi Guerra struck the left post with a right footed shot from just inside the box.
The home side continued to apply pressure and were rewarded with the equalising goal in the 86th minute when Humberto Osorio headed home a Javier Baraja cross, 1-1.
